After a half hour of debugging and running into the same brick wall as
Chris in this bug, and Soeren, David, Mattia, Pete, and others in
#418990, I finally found that earlier bug in the bug database. Not
surprisingly, installing libgnomevfs2-extra fixed my problem, as well.

I'd like to add my vote for usability, and therefor making
libgnomevfs2-extra a dependency of gnome-applets, until such date as
apt-get automatically installs the recommends list on installs and
upgrades.

In particular, I think this should be done because libgnomevfs2-extra
was not in the Recommends list in the past, so this is a functional
regression. Looking at recommends when I install a package is one
thing. Looking at *all* the changes to all my packages' recommends
lists when I do an apt-get dist-upgrade would be a significant burden,
and I assume is how many of us got into this situation in the first
place.

                Marc
