Thanks for the report. Are you saying that the backlight stays
completely off until a reboot, no matter what you do?

Gnome's PowerManagement: "when laptop lid is closed <Do nothing>"
But screen blanks and it remaining blank when lid is open again.
Reboot helps to switch on the screen after closing it.
