I think it is just the version of GLib you are using.
You should try to recompile xmms2 from soruces. 
Or tell the version of glibc you are using.
I am not developing xmms2 nor compiling for debian.
So if there is any person who compiles this packages for debian. Please try to 
recompile soruces for xmms2 with older version of GLIB. So this person would be 
able to use it.
