below is upstream's answer. In short, the new tagging system should
now address most of your concerns. We'll just have to wait for 0.2.11
to be released and see if you're satisfied with it.

In the playlist:
I'm pretty sure this just needs adding code to display the option in the
list of columns.  However, I think this should be handled on a per-case
basis, as adding too many rarely-used tags will quickly clutter the UI
and the code (the tags that Exaile show right now are pretty much the
standard in most music players).

In other places:
Editing arbitrary tags should already be supported by the new tag
editor.  I'm not sure what to do with the Information tab, which
displays mostly the same information minus the ability to edit (although
it does display file/stream info in addition to tags).

I think Ville's improvements to the tagging code includes support for
multiple tags.


So in short, it might be useful to first see what 0.2.11 will have and
make further requests from there.
