I found a file, fsck0000.rec, in the root of a filesystem. This is good, but I don't recall fsck.vfat mentioning that that is where it was putting the stuff that it was rescuing. Therefore, in its messages, fsck.vfat should mention the filename where it puts things. I don't recall the exact flags I used.
