I agree this is an issue, in a general sense; I would assert that it is, in
almost all cases, sufficiently easy to adjust the logging config to avoid
crossing a 2G filesize that it only warrants 'minor', however.

I have reviewed the patch, and while the principle on which it is written
is sound, it is *not* portable to some Debian systems as it stands. I will
need to do some legwork to make sure what the various possibilities that
are cross-system portable are (in general, O_LARGEFILE appears to be the
correct answer on systems that need it, and *may* be allowed as a no-op on
systems that don't, but I need to verify this and make sure any special
cases are handled).

Severity and tags adjusted accordingly, but I do intend to resolve this as
soon as I can manage to do the legwork; it's annoying, at the very least,
and there's no reason to let annoying things keep being annoying.
