Package: installation-reports Severity: important I just got my hands on an old iMac G3 (233MHz), one of the first tray loading models. I was asked to install Debian on it, so I got the businesscard rc3 image and started the install.
As the system has only 32M of RAM, after loading the installer, I got the "lowmem" warning message, which i expected as normal. Strangely, I couldn't press enter on the keyboard (a usb one). Apparently the usb kbd driver is not loaded in lowmem. I had a 64M PC133 SO-DIMM module lying around so I upgraded the iMac's memory to 96M. After that, the installation proceeded correctly, and I got to the languagechooser screen, but I still could not select anything. After some tests, I found that I had to unplug the USB kbd and plug it back again, and then it would work fine. After that the installation proceeded with no problems. I completely formatted and installed Debian on this system (left no trace of MacOS whatsoever :-). Still installing now from network, this will take a long time over my slow (384k) ADSL. So far, apart from these two problems, everything else seems to work fine. Konstantinos PS. This report is done on another system, that's why I don't attach the install logs. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
