Previously, it was mentioned that hotplug may be the cause of the tcsetattr problem. However, since then, I have uninstalled the hotplug package, and the problem remains:

Apr 23 11:18:01 saturn pppd[2233]: No response to 2 echo-requests
Apr 23 11:18:01 saturn pppd[2233]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.

Apr 23 11:18:01 saturn pppd[2233]: Sent 114069 bytes, received 0 bytes.
Apr 23 11:18:07 saturn pppd[2233]: Connection terminated.
Apr 23 11:18:07 saturn pppd[2233]: tcflush failed: Bad file descriptor
Apr 23 11:18:07 saturn pppd[2233]: Modem hangup
Apr 23 11:18:17 saturn pppd[2233]: tcsetattr: Invalid argument (line 964)
Apr 23 11:18:18 saturn pppd[2233]: tcsetattr: Invalid argument (line 1003)
Apr 23 11:18:18 saturn pppd[2233]: Exit.

When ppp is set to persist, it does not.
As before, this behaviour is not present when ppp is not set to persist.

ii ppp 2.4.3-20050321+1 Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) daemon

Cheers,
Peter Dey
