I've just committed in upstream CVS (on sourceforge) a fix so that
generated files are not cleaned upon "distclean", but only on
"maintainerclean".
The change will be integrated in the forthcoming upstream release, due
in a few days.
I've tested that the bug is indeed fixed doing twice "debuild -uc -us",
I hope it's enough to ensure this is fixed.
