This might be a general problem with applications remotely controlling xmms. After upgrading, I quit xmms and started the new version. I experienced almost similar problems as in #304098: | The playlist just quickly cycles through like it would do if I | tried to play the files on an unmounted nfs mount but nothing plays | except for a note or two. Xmms just skipped all files in the playlist and only played the last one (local and over NFS). The skin was reset to the default one every time a song changed or was skipped. On exit, it crashed with a segmentation fault. After restarting the (still running) instance of wmalbum[1], the problems were completely gone. The bug #304098 _might_ also be related to this problem since the whole conversation took place on the same day, where he might had such an application running in the background (just a guess).
