This causes another problem. I've built a custom linux-2.6.18-5-686 package for our own repo (to fix tx timeout hangs in the sky2 driver).
Once it's installed, I try to do a "module-assistant prepare" and get: ------ # module-assistant prepare Getting source for kernel version: 2.6.18-5-686 apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.18-5-686 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done The following NEW packages will be installed: linux-headers-2.6.18-5-686 0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Done Building dependency tree... Done build-essential is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Done! ------ As Manoj pointed out, the build and source symlinks in the linux-image package were removed at install time, but the inability to install linux-headers thereafter is a bit of a show-stopper. :-( Ciao, Sheldon.
