My guess is that you have an older version installed by hand (not via
dpkg or apt). If it is the case, you should uninstall it before
attempting to install the Debian package.

--propupd iwas introduced in the 1.3.0 release and this kind of error is
not present in this release, whereas it is in 1.2.9 (maybe others, I
haven't checked).

What is the output of 'which rkhunter'?
