We have not heard anything for several months on bug #421622. I recently implemened Kerberos infrastructure on one of my networks, with every system running Debian Etch. Using libsasl2-modules-gssapi-mit (the version shipped with etch) I am able to have a /etc/krb5.keytab with 600 permissions and everything works fine. The services which require or are able to use a separate keytab are so documented. If I don't hear anything back about this within the next few weeks. I will go ahead and close the bug.
