I no longer have access to a computer running "iceweasel" so I can't check if the bug is present in the latest version. But on FireFox version 2.0.0.6 on a computer running Kubuntu 7.04, the bug has changed. Now when one attempts to write a file to a protected directory, there is no warning message and the browser does not crash. Instead the progress bar shows the file being written as would be the case for a directory where there is write permission. But on checking from an xterm, the file is not actually written anywhere. -- Kenneth H.
