I've made many tests and I found out the following:
As GNUstep is my main and default environment, I have the script sourced in my ~/.bashrc, e.g. ". /usr/lib/GNUstep/System/Makefiles/GNUstep.sh" at the end of the file. By simply commenting that line, logout and login, and then sourcing the script from Terminal and installing affiche there is no problem at all.
However, the behaviour I've described is easy reproducible on all my machines (even at work on PIV-3GHz/512 MB RAM) if you run "make_services" as root with GNUstep environment set in ~/.bashrc. Unfo I couldn't find out the reason for it. As this has nothing to do with affiche, I believe this bug can be closed or at least tagged or merged with another one. Should I file a bug against gnustep-gui?
