Package: gtk-chtheme
Version: 0.3.1-2
Severity: important

My ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file previously had a few settings in it. I ran
gtk-chtheme, browsed through themes, selected one, hit OK. Theme was
applied. My other settings were gone. Looked at .gtkrc-2.0 again,
and sure enough, it had been summarily blown away by the theme
specification.

("important" because this loses files that the user could reasonably
have created. Or am I misunderstanding something? As far as I know,
the .gtkrc-2.0 file in my home directory is mine, and shouldn't be
replaced without my consent. I looked around on the Web to see
whether this was standard behavior for some reason; I found people
saying ".gtkrc-2.0 _usually_ does this", but I never found anyone
say ".gtkrc-2.0 is owned by the GTK+ tools and can randomly lose
settings if you place them in there directly".)

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=271450 is a similar
bug for a similar program.
