Package: ucf
Version: 3.003
Severity: important
Severity important since it breaks unrelated software (dovecot) in a way that
doesn't make it obvious where the problem actually is.
I was seeing this problem when upgrading dovecot:
Setting up dovecot-common (1:1.0.7-1) ...
Can't call method "description" on an undefined value at
/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/Question.pm line 93, <GEN0> line 1.
dpkg: error processing dovecot-common (--configure):
So I decided to reinstall ucf (since ucf was the only debconf-dovecot related
thing I could find):
$ apt-get --reinstall install ucf
Setting up ucf (3.003) ...
Setting up dovecot-common (1:1.0.7-1) ...
[... dialog on what to do on a changed dovecot config file ...]
Error: unknown response from debconf:'show a 3-way difference between available
versions'
Seems like ucf had offered me an option in debconf it not longer understands?
Showing the difference worked. So did "keep the installed version".
