Recipe:
1) start maxima
2) hit <ctrl-C> and then <enter>
maxima aborts with messages:

Maxima encountered a Lisp error:
Console interrupt.
Automatically continuing.
To reenable the Lisp debugger set *debugger-hook* to nil.

out of memory allocating 7 bytes after a total of 97426836 bytes
It isn't a problem with my memory limit (1.5 GB machine):
