Hello,

mtools has priority standard. Due to this debian-installer pulls it in any
default install. This is broken, especially on systems such as the nslu2 where
usually there are serious memory/disk constraints.

Also, the popcon stats[1] seem to suggest that many people (87.84% - rank 13 in
the Old stats) have the package installed but are not using it regularly, and I
suspect that the fact that the package is installed by default has a role in 
this.


More than that, I would say that the common use for mtools is way gone in 2007
with floppies gone and pmount present and working.
