I just stumbled over this issue once again:

================================================================================
Configuration file `/etc/default/spamassassin'
==> Modified (by you or by a script) since installation.
==> Package distributor has shipped an updated version.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
    Y or I : install the package maintainer's version
    N or O : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : background this process to examine the situation
The default action is to keep your current version.
*** spamassassin (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ? dpkg: error processing
spamassassin (--configure):
EOF on stdin at conffile prompt
Setting up spamc (3.2.3-0.volatile1) ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
 spamassassin
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

During softupdates it is likely that a package update asks the user whether a
file should be kept or replaced. This is done by ucf, which has the options
described earlier in this bug report. This is a problem specific to FAI as
stdin is
redirected to /dev/null (and not a bug in ucf, IMHO).

I think resolving this issue should be considered once the example config space
is made usable for softupdates, otherwise of course every user must fix this in
their own config space.

Best,
Michael
