I've decide, at least for now, to let python-nwsserver use
/etc/init.d/nwsserver.  

[ Steve: that simply renames your nws init script to nwsserver to avoid the
conflict.  Let me know if you're unhappy about that -- it may create a need
to mention that as a footnote in the documentation somewhere.  ]
