Also, could you try:

gst-launch-0.10 filesrc location=/path/to/file ! decodebin !
audioconvert ! alsasink

and

gst-launch-0.10 filesrc location=/path/to/file ! decodebin !
audioconvert ! "audio/x-raw-int,width=16,depth=16" ! alsasink

(both in one line of course).

I'd assume that the first involves crackling and the second doesn't, can
you confirm that?
