Sadly enough the gdb backtraces are of no use as seen before in this bug report. The libusb standard debug output stops after completing the loop in usb_os_find_devices, but between that and the end of usb_find_devices there isn't any debug output anyway. If I find the time on the weekend I will add some more debug output and try again...
