My apologies. I am just forwarded patches, and I wasn't involved in the initial bug. I also made two mistakes when sending the report. The first was to say the package failed to install, when in fact it failed to remove. You can see this clearly if you have a look at http://patches.ubuntu.com/a/auctex/auctex_11.83-7ubuntu1.patch The second was not to give you a pointer to the bug. You can read it here. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/auctex/+bug/148469 > > The following patch from > > Michael Vogt is used in Ubuntu to correct this. > > > > Please consider applying it, > > I rather consider to notify the Ubuntu people of their error, but I'm > not sure how to contact a package responsible in Ubuntu. If the fix is wrong, inappropriate or unneeded then please explain why and I will happily report this to the correct place in Ubuntu. For reference the usual approach would just be to file a bug using https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/auctex/+filebug The idea is that this would be triaged to high priority and hopefully some one would fix it, certainly when the next merge with one of your uploads was done. Unfortunately this requires an account, which you may not have. If you do wish to report a Ubuntu bug at any point and don't want to claim you account on launchpad then feel free to contact me and I will do so on your behalf given sufficient information. Sorry to give you bad information and so waste your time. Thanks, James
