Having done some reading, I thought it best to split out my bug into the constituent components. First up, no HTTP proxy support. This is the core issue so I think that this report should reflect that. Next, irrespective of the fact that the HTTP transactions are failing due to the lack of proxy support, this shouldn't block the UI. I may not actually want to play streams or use last.fm, yet this will block by default on first run. (I haven't confirmed but don't think it's possible to get it to stop probing) Next, please honour the TERM signal when blocking on network ports (I'm not that familiar with network IO; maybe async is needed?) Finally, can the splash be made a little less obtrusive?
