I run WPrefs, select the Font Configuration tab, and pick "Desktop Caption" from the dropdown; this causes a segfault 100% of the time.

You can see that there is no Desktop Caption font configured. Is WPrefs making some assumptions? I've been porting this config forward since RH 7.2, so I wouldn't be surprised if some things that were introduced later aren't there.
