And there lies the problem. hpijs-ppds are useless without hpijs, and therefore at least a recommends is needed from hpijs-ppds to hpijs. IMO, HP printers are a *vast majority* of the users who need hpijs and hpijs-ppds, and that's how the thing needs to be optimized. I hope that doesn't have to mean bringing in HPLIP, but if it does, then that's it.
