Package: kernel-package Version: 11.001 Severity: wishlist Many package-related programs in Debian check $DEBEMAIL, $DEBFULLNAME, $DEBNAME, and GECOS to determine the maintainer name and email to use. However, make-kpkg requires me to set values in /etc/kernel-pkg.conf explicitly. I'd find it very helpful if make-kpkg could check these environment variables and GECOS to determine the maintainer name and email. For compatibility with previous versions of make-kpkg, perhaps the default /etc/kernel-pkg.conf could leave the maintainer and email unset, and make-kpkg could check the environment variables and name when it does not obtain a value from /etc/kernel-pkg.conf?
