It has been several years since this bug was reported, and the situation has changed. Planeshift is playable in Debian. It does not require this package, nor does it require that the user download or compile crystal space. The official Planeshift binary download includes the crystal space libraries required to play Planeshift.
Perhaps in the future, when crystalspace is more stable, mainstream distros will include a "libcrystalspace" package, and games depending on it will not have to include it, but will only have to specify a minimum version of the required external library.
