Package: mount Version: 2.13-13 Severity: important --- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Considering bug #453619 in hal/0.5.10-3 there was a suggestion filing a
new bug against mount. So I will do so:
Devices cannot be mounted with the option "uhelper=hal". Trying to do so
cause the following error:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
and dmesg shows the following line:
FAT: Unrecognized mount option "uhelper=hal" or missing value
That problem arises when upgrading hal from version 0.5.8.1-9 (etch) to
0.5.10-2 (lenny) or 0.5.10-4 (sid). The uhelper-option should be handled
by the util-linux package (version 2.13.x), but it does not.
In consequence mounting devices with the gnome-volume-manager fails,
what's of course a little bit annoying. So, that's it.
