Here is another interesting bit of information: I have two (HTTP)
servers from which I stream to mpc/mpd. Both are behind the same
firewall, which has three interfaces:

2: wlan: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,10000> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast qlen 1000
    link/ether 00:00:cb:02:2e:7b brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
3: lan: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,10000> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast qlen 1000
    link/ether 00:20:ed:23:ce:9a brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
78: wan: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,10000> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast qlen 1000
    link/ether 00:02:8a:80:21:31 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

The mpc/mpd host is one hop off iface lan. Server A is some hops
behind wan (on the public Internet), and server B is one hop away
from the wlan interface.

Connecting and playing from server A works just fine. I only get the
deadlock issues when playing from server B.
