Package: grep Version: 2.5.3~dfsg-3 Severity: wishlist Dear grep maintainer,
it would be nice if GNU grep had an option to grep the files without disturbing their access time. In the general case, this involves calling utime(2) after closing the file. However, under Linux this can be done easily and without any performance penalty by passing the O_NOATIME flag to open(2). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17.11 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages grep depends on: ii libc6 2.6.1-1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries grep recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- André Majorel <http://www.teaser.fr/~amajorel/> I trust bugs.debian.org to not publish my email address for spammers to harvest.
