What happens is that after some time the chat application can no longer connect to the mDNS server. This happens with Empathy, Gajim and Pidgin. However when this happens avahi-daemon is still running: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps ax | grep avahi 6078 ? Ss 0:00 avahi-daemon: running [cycnus.local] 6079 ? Ss 0:00 avahi-daemon: chroot helper 6097 ? Ss 0:00 /usr/sbin/avahi-dnsconfd -D If I run the same tests you gave me before, I can publish a service [EMAIL PROTECTED] and if I browse for it, it's there. It happens also that I can see a friend online through avahi-browse, but not in the GUI chat application... Strange indeed.
