Package: initramfs-tools Followup-For: Bug #366175 I got the same issue here. Why not solve the problem by adding calls to lvm initialization in the "Waiting for root filesystem" loop ?
A workaround is to add break=mount to the kernel command line, wait for the usb disk to come up and just exit, which will continue the boot sequence properly.
