severity 414155 wishlist retitle 414155 update-notifier: please recommend anacron thanks
Sorry about not replying for so long. The problem was indeed that my cron.daily wasn't run, not because I didn't have cron installed, but because the machines didn't run at nights, and I didn't have anacron installed. Therefore I've changed the bug to wishlist; I think it would be good to recommend anacron, so that the cron tasks are actually run on machines which are not running at night. Recommend is a strong relation (meaning it is unusual to install update-notifier but not anacron). I think this is reasonable, because update-notifier is meant for workstations; it is not very useful for servers IMO (they often don't have X at all). Since it is indeed unusual that workstations are kept running at nights, recommending seems proper to me.
