After some more investigation I found out that: - This bug has already been reported as http://bugs.debian.org/416689 and that the .diff.gz already includes a debian/patches/build-with-gcc4.3.patch which is identical to the patch I provided in my last mail. - #416689 has been fixed in labplot/1.5.1.6-1 but the GCC 4.3 error happens again with labplot/1.5.1.6-2 (where quilt was introduced for patch handling). So it is probable that quilt does not apply the build-with-gcc4.3.patch before the package is built. If I've some free time over the next days, I'll probably have a deeper look at the package.
