Package: virtualbox-ose Version: 1.5.2-dfsg2-6 Followup-For: Bug #456989 I have to add one point in favor or a recommend instead of depend which didn't come up till now:
I am building my own kernel from the sources since I need some patches and trying to test rc kernels. I am building some modules using m-a. For kvm this works perfectly. For virtualbox I can build the modules .deb, but I cannot install it because these STUPID virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.24-rc5_1.5.2-dfsg2-6_i386.deb actually ALSO depends on linux-modules-2.6.24-rc5 | linux-image-2.6.24-rc5 Daniel, can you please give a good reason for putting up that many obstacles for people who want to use the package manager for most things but not for the kernel itself? It is a p-i-t-a that way. Anyway, fortunately the next upload will revert this change, can't wait for it. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-rc5 (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.ISO-8859-15, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO-8859-15 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages virtualbox-ose depends on: ii adduser 3.105 add and remove users and groups ii libc6 2.7-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.2.2-4 GCC support library ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 7.0.2-2 A free implementation of the OpenG ii libglib2.0-0 2.14.4-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libidl0 0.8.8-0.1 library for parsing CORBA IDL file ii libqt3-mt 3:3.3.7-9 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsdl1.2debian 1.2.12-3 Simple DirectMedia Layer ii libstdc++6 4.2.2-4 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii libxalan110 1.10-3.1 Provides XSLT support for applicat ii libxcursor1 1:1.1.9-1 X cursor management library ii libxerces27 2.7.0-5 validating XML parser library for ii libxext6 1:1.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxt6 1:1.0.5-3 X11 toolkit intrinsics library Versions of packages virtualbox-ose recommends: pn virtualbox-ose-modules <none> (no description available) ii virtualbox-ose-source 1.5.2-dfsg2-6 Source for the VirtualBox module -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
