That is correct.  But it is very useful to be able to detect bugs in
the boot sequence, and it is also very useful for those of use using
insserv to order the boot sequence based on these dependency headers.

If you want to check the ordering yourself, you can use the script
/usr/share/insserv/check-initd-order in the insserv package.

So even if you do not care about parallel booting, the dependency
information is very useful and it would be great if the autofs package
could get the header soon.  Two thirds of the Debian packages got the
dependency information in place, and I hope the remaining third will
get their init.d scripts to include it soon.
