My apologies. In any event the main point of the bug report stands, as the network control panel can create configurations that confuse the network manager. Perhaps if network manager could be made to notice existing connections (since it apparently does not require X and therefore should be able able to play nice with other non-X networking)? If it is already *supposed* to do this, then this is a different bug than I thought. If that is the case, is it fixed in lenny?
