I used BackupPC 3.1.0-1 on a fresh Debian Etch install, and it
wouldn't start because there was no MTA installed. I did an "apt-get
install exim4" and then BackupPC started up no problem.
Perhaps there's an MTA meta-package that you can list under the
BackupPC package requirements such that exim4 would install
automatically? Or perhaps just requiring the exim4package? would do
the trick?
