Hi. I am the maintainer of the package hfsprogs and its source code is not 64-bit clean. I discovered this after I uploaded the version 332.14-1 to the archives, via the bugreport #436159. I have, researched the problem further and reading the code, I noticed that it works by "sheer luck" on 32-bit systems, but breaks on 64-bit systems. Thus, I have prepared (and uploaded, via my sponsor) a new revision of the hfsprogs package (332.14-2) and restricted the arches only to powerpc and i386, where it was already tested and worked. I will investigate more and see if a future package can be made with fixes so that it can be enabled in all arches again. I would, in the mean time, kindly request that the architecture set were restricted so that it can reach testing and be available in future releases of Debian.
