I've been seeing this a lot lately. It's been really annoying, I've
almost stopped using unp because of that.
I don't know what the "authenticity information" of RAR is, or what it
is good for. Apparently, only registered (i.e. closed source) versions
can generate "authenticity information". I figure it's some kind of
signature of who created the RAR archive via a CA at the rar owner
company.
Anyway, I've seen a lot of files with that error. I figure it might be
some revoked pirated key to register WinRAR or something stupid like
that. Or maybe just a broken RAR version, or third-party software
creating RAR files. The workaround is simple - just add "-av-" to
rar/unrar when extracting the files. That way, it should ignore the
"authenticity information".
authenticity information is not the same as CRC checksums; these are
still validated. I don't see any benefit of supporting "AI" with unp.
