This time could be greater on amd64 than on 32bit systems. I have also no access to an amd64 machine I cannot do some needed tests for this. To understand the cfs actions and find the bug(s) I completelly reprogram cfs in perl for fuse. (Well, only the readonly part.) The result is that there are some bugs in the filesystem code as well, but your problems seems to be related to the nfs part.
