The ia64 buildd has a hook that fails builds which fail this test. This
hook was introduced by the buildd maintainer when such a bug resulted
in chroot corruption. It doesn't mean the package FTBFS on ia64 - just
that the ia64 autobuilder is refusing to upload it. In fact, its quite
possible that the code path in question is never actually reached in
practice - I haven't attempted to show otherwise.
