I can't really reproduce this with your explenation - though I'm using the 1.3.13 version from experimental and there has been quite some zooming fixes in between. As the current development release 1.3.14 (which I hope to upload to experimental soonish) is the first feature freeze development release for the upcoming 1.4 stable release, can you pretty please test your problem with the version from experimental and tell me if you can reproduce it with it?
