Vera is the standard family for most Linux distributions, purpose built for Linux desktop use by a reputable font foundry and distributed with a free license. DejaVu takes that font and adds random glyphs from various sources that do not mix well with the original Vera glyphs. They are also largely unhinted, making presentation of documents using DejaVu inconsistent on the screen. Far better to use a collection of fonts that together provide a better experience for the user than the enforced merging done in the DejaVu distribution. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
