Same issue here, on my box $(DEB_HOST_GNU_SYSTEM) expands to linux-gnu, s/ifeq ($(DEB_HOST_GNU_SYSTEM), linux)/ifeq ($(DEB_HOST_GNU_SYSTEM), linux-gnu)
