Hi Matthias, I just looked at this bug and started 1.2... I saw what you mean and remembered again why I made the changes to make Wesnoth look better on larger screens when a small map is used :-) The problem is caused by the fact that Wesnoth was originally developed for 1024x786 and the minimum map size was chosen to look good on this resolution. Now that screens are bigger these artefacts become visible if the map is too small. I fixed this upstream by adding a border and centring the map if the map is smaller than the screen. (Not sure when exactly but I think around 1.3.6.) Regards, Mark de Wever (Wesnoth developer)
