Hi,

Thanks for looking into this, and suggesting a patch.  For the most part,
where I have added constructs like this into rules or other makefiles, it
is because I believe the syntax is clearer and more easily readable than
the alternatives, so I would much rather we 'fix' them for use with other
default shells by adding an explicit SHELL = /bin/bash instead though.

I've committed such a fix to the git.d.o repo now, so it will be included
with the next upload.
