Package: ifrename Version: 27-3 Severity: normal Hi,
I just wanted to setup ifrename together with hotplug on sid. It took me quite some time to figure out why ifrename did not properly rename the prism54 card when it was plugged in (the lan and the internal ipw2100 work perfectly). I finally found out that the MAC address that ifrename gets is wrong, i.e. it's not the MAC printed on the adapter itself and it's not the MAC address returned by ifconfig when the interface is up. I have no idea where the MAC comes from, but it could be that it is the MAC of the AP the card is normally associated with. Before I spam the kernel-ml with this, I thought I'd check with BTS if the fault might be on ifrename's side...
